Flower Poem
You came to me
with a poem
cupped in your hands
like a flower
a sunflower maybe
colorful and light
and airy
around the edges
but of some
weight
and girth
in its middle
not flashy
but a
happy flower
a gift
from you
to me
but how am I
supposed to read
a flower?
Jim Burns was born and raised in rural Indiana, and received degrees from both Indiana State University and Indiana University. He then spent the vast majority of his working years as a librarian. After retiring he turned to his long-held interest in writing and has been fortunate to have published during the past five years approximately 30 pieces. He lives with his wife and dog in Jacksonville, Florida.
